William Manypenny, Sr. Obituary

William Dale Manypenny Sr., 93, husband of the late Shirley Lorraine (McKown) Manypenny of Woodville, Texas, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023 at the VA Hospital in Houston, Texas. Born September 17, 1929, in Liverpool, Ohio, he was the son of the late William A. and Angelina Hetzel Manypenny

Bill was a veteran and served his country proudly. He joined the Marines in December of 1948. He attended Boot Camp at Paris Island in S. Carolina and was then stationed at Camo Pendleton in California. His many tours took him to Korea, Japan, Hawaii, Chile, and Vietnam. He was on I&I (Inspector-Instructor) Duty in Ohio and MCRO (Marine Corps Recruit Depot) in San Diego. He retired as a Master Sgt. E8. While at Camp Pendleton, he met and married the love of his life, Shirley, November 25, 1951.They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in November 2015, before her passing in January, 2016. After the military, Bill joined the Border Patrol (6 years) and was stationed in Gila Bend, Az. He enjoyed many hobbies such as camping. fishing, boating, shooting, wood working and crafts.

He was a dog lover. Boxers were his all-time favorite breed and he had several during the course of his life-time but he especially loved Scooter who was his loyal companion.

 The union of William and Shirley, they had  one son, William D. Manypenny, Jr of Woodville, Tx. and one daughter, Pamela L. Birchfield and her husband, Daniel, of Gila Bend, Az; 11 grandchildren, William “Billy” Dale Manypenny, II, Melody and Jade Gilley, Robert and Carol Siedschlag, Yohanna and Richard Nichols, Arthur and Rebekah Siedschlag. Brandi and in loving memory Zane Rodgers, Lori and Kurt Si, Robbie and Allison Olson, Brian and Alejandra Birchfield, Jon Birchfield and Melissa Mendoza; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, he was predeceased by his brother, John William and his sister, Doris May: 2 daughters, Denise Siedschlag and Deborah Olson; 1 granddaughter, Sherri Siedschlag and 1 grandson, Daniel E. Birchfield, Jr.

He remains will be cremated and the family will have a private ceremony at undisclosed place. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandpa. He was loved by all and made a huge impact on us all and will be greatly missed
