Wilburn Franklin. Jones, 94, passed peacefully unto his Lord and Savior on December 27, 2024.
Born January 25, 1930, in Longview, Texas, he drove cross-country for over 59 years, seeing 48 states. He was a gentle, kindhearted man who worked with young adults and youth in churches across the state. He enjoyed mowing and kept a beautiful yard. For the last nineteen years, he enjoyed having family and friends with whom he could share his life and the gospel.
Wilburn Franklin Jones is survived by his loving wife of eighteen years, Lottie D. Jones; stepchildren who he considered his own, Larry and Christy Sheffield, Cheryl Conner, Linda and Bubba Redmon, Lawayne and Edith Sheffield; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Larry Sheffield and Brother Lawayne Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow at the Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger, Texas. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pate Sheffield, Nathan Sheffield, Joshua Redmon, Joe Sheffield, Drew Sheffield, Xander Diaz Redmon, and Eli Thompson will be pallbearers. Bubba Redmon, Noland Kerr, and Jim Collier will serve as honorary pallbearers.
