Verlee Belt, age 92, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021. She had been a resident of Dogwood Trails Manor in Woodville for a number of years but was a lifelong resident of Colmesneil. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C. Belt in 1996. She is survived by her only sibling, Joy Jones Oldham; their parents, Coy and Frank Jones having died many years ago. She is survived by her three children. Daughter, Jozette Belt Campbell, her two sons, Jace and Spencer and their respective wives Sierra and Kati. her son, Kenneth Randall Belt and wife, Pat, their two children, daughter, Wendy Belt Zachry, her husband, Chris and their three young sons, Michael, Will and Matthew; and their son, Randall Blake Belt. Daughter, Dawn Belt Godwin, husband, Mike and son Josh. She is also survived by her devoted friend of many years, Mattie Sexton.
Mrs. Belt served as the Tax Assessor-Collector for the Colmesneil Independent School District for 27 years, was a devout Christian and lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Colmesneil. She loved gardening and always took pride in having beautiful flowers in her yard.
Cremation is being carried out by Riley Funeral Home of Woodville. To protect lives from Covid-19, Mrs. Belt’s remains will be buried in a private gathering at a later date. She will rest in final peace next to her husband in the Colmesneil City Cemetery.
