Tommie Ray Sanford of Colmesneil passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025,
at the Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.
Tommie lived in Colmesneil for many years. He retired as a ship captain, and his love for travel began. His strong personality and passion for people led him never to meet a stranger. No matter where he might be, the grocery store or the gas store, he talked to everyone and helped them when needed.
Being a very smart man, Tommie never let a problem go unsolved. He enjoyed restoring cars, working in the yard, and listening to music, especially Hank Snow and Hank Williams. He loved his dogs, but his grandsons and great-grandsons were the apple of his eye. His family meant the world to him.
Tommie was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Sanford and Earvil Kirby Sanford; his sister, Paula Adkins; his brother, Howard Sanford; and his grandson, Stephen Windham.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Sanford; daughters, Diana Southard and Teresa Worley; grandson, Jason Windham and wife, Kimberly; great-grandsons, Anthony and Austin Windham; brother, Bobby Sanford and wife, Vie; sister, Joyce Edgeworth and husband, John; brother-in-law, Jimmy Adkins; sister-in-law, Sue Sanford, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
