Tillman Pat Hoffpauir, Jr., was called to the Promised Land Sunday, June 26, 2022, after a bare-knuckle brawl with cancer.
Though he walked through the valley of the shadow of death, he feared no evil, for he was the biggest son-of-a-gun in that valley. But that wasn’t the only reason. He knew with absolute certainty that he had God on his side. His faith was at the very center of his existence. He was someone who had so much good in him, and many times throughout his life he channeled that into helping others- whether it was opening a food bank, leading a prison ministry, or just helping his neighbors when they needed a hand.
He wore many a hat in his lifetime, and worked in the oil field, construction, or owned his own business for much of it. Epic storyteller, big game hunter, verbal boxing champion, life-long entrepreneur, smooth crooner, skilled craftsman, nature documentary narrator extraordinaire, all-purpose head honcho, and a halfway decent dancer. Among his notable accomplishments were apprehending Big Al the once-state-record alligator, raising two hardworking and humorous children, and having five absolutely gorgeous grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene Hoffpauir, his son Levi Hoffpauir & wife Ericka, daughter Anna Hoffpauir Sites, father Tillman Pat Hoffpauir, Sr., brothers John Hoffpauir & wife Jennifer, John Morgan Hoffpauir & wife Olivia, and Keith Hoffpauir, sisters Lila Beeson, Cecelia Hoffpauir, Rebekah Plaissance & husband Paul, Cindy Nobles, and Martha Perricone, as well as grandchildren Shelby, Logan, Harrison, Avalynn & Maverick, and a plethora of nephews, nieces and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mother Sula Gaynell Hancock Perricone, and brothers Charles Perricone & David Perricone.
All stories must come to an end. Life is full of people who make it more colorful, and we commemorate and honor one of this world’s most colorful characters- Tillman Hoffpauir, the Gator Hunter.
Now, he has finally heard the words he so longed to hear: Well done, my good and faithful servant. Your battle is won.
