Thomas Luther Sisson, Jr. (Tom or Tommy to those who knew him well), 70, of Colmesneil, TX, passed away on January 24th after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born on April 25, 1953, to Thomas Luther Sisson, Sr. and Wanda Charldean Sisson in Houston, Tx. He left Galena Park High School shortly before graduation to enlist in the United States Navy in 1971. He gave the US four years.
He married Marsha Wilcox on July 31, 1976, and they had three children, Stephanie, Jeremy, and Jessica. He was a fixer of all things and loved to work on CB radios. He was notorious for taking things apart and sometimes not being able to put them back together exactly just right. But he was also perseverant and never gave up! Tom went on to study Criminal Justice at Texas A&M University, Angelina College, and Columbia College- Fort Leonard Wood. He served as a deputy for Jasper County for 2 years, a patrolman for Kountze Police Department for 2 years, and a deputy sheriff for Hardin County for 12 years.
Tom wore many hats over the years, but the one he was most proud to wear was his hat for Christ. He rededicated his life to Christ last July and was baptized in the church. He was a true servant of the Lord. He gave when he didn’t have. He loved the unlovable. He never missed an opportunity to help those in need. From Meals on Wheels to ministering to the homeless to being a handyman for those in need of services; He was a true example of living a life as the hands and feet of Jesus.
He also wore the hat of dad and granddad proudly. There were fishing lessons, history discussions, sports training tips, and lots of his favorite memories shared. He loved with his whole heart for his whole life and never left any room for doubt. He was a hopeless romantic and a glorious dreamer. Lots of those dreams involved things his earthly body just couldn’t do anymore, but that didn’t stop him from dreaming.
Tom Sisson was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He leaves behind a lasting legacy to be shared for years to come, from generation to generation. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Sisson, and his three children, their spouses and children, and his great-grandchildren. Stephanie (husband Shannon and children Victoria, Jasmine, Madalyn, Quinn, and Charlie); Jeremy (wife Kara and children Caden and Ashton); Jessica (husband Sam and children Tori, Adysen, and Bristol, & his great-grandchildren Waylon and Walker); siblings Marian Little and Wanda Zwhar and lots of in-laws, nephews, nieces, friends, and family too numerous to name. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Luther Sisson, Sr. and Wanda Charldean Sisson; his brother Dennis McQueen; his nephew Michael McMillan; and his brother-in-law Johne Little.
The family would like to invite you to come and share stories of remembrance on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Riley Funeral Home 913 US Highway 190, Woodville, Tx. at 11:00 AM. There will be no graveside services.
