Thomas Means Obituary

Thomas Max “Tom” Means, 58, of Spurger passed away on June 1, 2024.

Born September 4, 1965, in Woodville, Texas, he grew up in Hardin and returned to Tyler County making it his home.  He loved the outdoors especially fishing, riding 4-wheelers to the river, welding and building bar-b-que pits and spinning tales with his buddies.  Tom loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them but everyone knew he was a Momma’s Boy who could get away with whatever he chose.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, John Houston Means,  and his brother, James C. Means.

He is survived by his loving mother, Viola Nell Ard, and step-father, Marvin Ard of Silsbee; sisters, Ethel Fay Rogers and husband, Curtis of Spurger and Nelda Powers and husband, David of Toledo Bend; brother, John B. Means of Spurger; step-mother, Emma Alvina Means of Spurger; step-sister, Sandra Lyrock and husband, Jimmy of Spurger; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2024, from 5 pm until 7 pm at Riley Funeral Home in Woodville.  A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
