Tara Longtin Obituary

Tara A. Longtin passed away peacefully on December 31, 2019 at Dogwood Trails Nursing Home.  Tara was born in Utica, New York June 1947 and was a resident of the City of Ivanhoe, Woodville, Texas.

Tara grew up in upstate New York and was a graduate of Onondaga Community Dental Hygiene School, Syracuse, New York and was a registered Dental Hygienist as well as a registered nurse.  She began her career with the Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) servicing northern New York public schools as the school dental hygienist.  Tara continued her education and graduated from Marcy School of Nursing, Utica, New York receiving a registered nursing degree.  She moved to Houston, Tx and worked many years for Hermann Hospital.  She was honored many times as an outstanding nurse and employee.  After nursing, Tara became certified as a school nurse working for Houston Independent School District (HISD) where she retired.  Tara moved to Ivanhoe with her sister and mother in 2013.

Tara’s favorite passion was reading and she enjoyed the peaceful nature of Ivanhoe.  Tara very much loved nature and the outdoors and the peaceful nature of the lake atmosphere.

Tara leaves behind her beloved younger sister, Jill L. Longtin, whom she lived with.  Jill, a registered nurse, who took personal ownership of Tara’s well being for many years after she suffered health issues.  Tara also leaves behind a brother and his wife, Douglas J. Longtin and Caryl LeWan Longtin of Ivanhoe.  In addition, three nephews and wives, Joseph and Nicole Longtin, Houston, James and Karen Longtin, Virginia Beach, VA and Daniel and Courtney Longtin, Pasadena, Tx.

Preceding Tara’s death was her father, John P. Longtin, mother, Grace E. Longtin, and an aunt, Ms. Nel Mathys who took exceptional car of Tara before passing.

Cremation will be conducted by Riley’s Funeral Home, Woodville, Tx.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Ivanhoe Property Owners Improvement Association (IPOIA) lake fund as Tara was an advocate for lake care.  IPOIA, 880 Charmaine Dr E, Woodville, Texas 75979
