Shannon Murray Hickman Obituary

Shannon Brooke Murray Hickman, 58, of Chester, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 28, 2026.

Born in Lufkin, Texas, to Doyle Wayne Murray and Patricia Lynn Oates Murray, she was the granddaughter of Haze and Josephine Duhon Murray and Cecil and Mammie Oates.  Shannon gave her life to Christ and was baptized on August 11, 1974, at Lakeview Baptist Church in Diboll.  She graduated from Diboll High School in 1986.  She then attended SFA and graduated with a bachelor's degree in business.

She married the love of her life, Todd Hickman, at Lakeview Baptist Church in Diboll in 1993, and welcomed four beautiful sons, then four grandchildren, who were the light of her life.  An incredibly devoted mother and grandmother, she could often be found cheering from the stands at countless baseball games.  Some of her fondest memories were watching her four sons play the game that they loved so much.  According to Shannon, there were no better days than hot days at the baseball park.  She and Todd had the absolute greatest honor and privilege to lead their four sons on their walk through their faith and lead them to Jesus.

Shannon laughed easily and often, with an infectious faith.  She never missed an opportunity to talk about God, volunteer at her church, and sing her praises so loudly.  She was the heart of her family, and her strong and warm spirit made it impossible not to feel at home with her.  She taught those around her the importance of family, laughter, and showing up for the people you love.  Her legacy lives on through her sons and through her grandchildren.  Her four sons are a true testament to the love, dedication, and faith that she and Todd poured into them.

Her kindness and strength touched everyone who knew her, and though she is gone, her love and laughter will never fade.

Shannon is survived by her loving husband, Todd Hickman; sons, Torin Hickman and wife, Hannah, Trevor Hickman and wife, Sydney, Trey Hickman and Tate Hickman; grandchildren, Ella Joe and William Hickman, Brigham and Cecilia Hickman; parents, Doyle Wayne Murray and Patricia Lynn Oates Murray; brothers, David Murray and wife, Toni, Ira Murray and wife, Chasity; sister, Deanna Waites and husband, Justin and a host of other family members and friends.
