A Celebration of Ruthie Lee Grimes’ Life, age 94, will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Riley Funeral Home, Woodville, Texas with burial to follow at Ferrell Cemetery in the Holly Fork Community. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the start of the service.
Ruthie passed away on Wednesday, October 30, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Ruthie was born at home in the Holly Fork community and lived most of her life in Tyler County. She was a hairdresser and salon owner for 38 years before retiring. Most who knew her have described her by the love she showed to everyone she met. Ruthie was a mother not only to her family, but to many other kids who found themselves in need of extra love and support over her long life. She could be counted on for an extra hug, sound counsel, and a good meal. When necessary, she and her late husband, Frank, provided a home to a young person who needed that love and support. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing her loved her because she loved with such a generous heart.
Ruthie is survived by sons Robert Grimes and wife Melinda of Wister, OK and Cam Grimes of Jasper, daughters Jan Sutton and husband Ceva of Sebring, FL, Julia Napper and husband Terry of Jasper, and Brittney Grimes and special friend Aris Hubbard of Houston, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands Frank Grimes and Jack Gray, sons Earl Wayne and Jerry Hunter, and brother Floyd Conner.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ruthie’s beloved church, Mount Sinai Baptist Church, PO Box 534, Colmesneil, TX 75938.
Because Ruthie loved pretty, brightly colored clothes, especially anything red, the family invites everyone to wear bright, cheerful colors to the service
