Robert Lewis Payne

Robert Lewis Payne, 96, of Woodville, Texas passed away peacefully on January 12, 2021 with his wife of 73 years, Betty Lou Guidry Payne, by his side.

Born in Clovis, New Mexico on July 13, 1924 to William and Autie Payne, he lived in Texas for many years.  Robert served in the Navy in World War II from March 12, 1942 to May 26, 1946 and the Korean War from August 28, 1950 to February 1952. He married the love of his life, Betty Lou Guidry on October 31, 1947.   After retiring from Travelers Insurance with 36 years of service they moved to Woodville.  He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Woodville for 35 years.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, William and Autie Payne and a brother, Vernon Wilson Payne.

He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Betty Lou Guidry Payne; three children, Sylvia Dee Claus, Ronald Lewis Payne and Richard Alan Payne; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A private grave side service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
