Rita Siders Obituary

Rita Mae Williams Siders, 72, of Jasper passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on August 11, 2022. She was born on March 15, 1950 in Port Arthur, Texas to her late parents Johnny Williams and Zelma Myrtis Outhouse Dougherty.

She called Woodville, TX her home graduating from Kirby High School in 1969 where she enjoyed being a cheerleader. Later she spent almost 20 years raising four children in Lumberton, TX. Rita and Sid were married on April 2, 1994. She followed Sid’s Customs career living in El Paso and Salt Lake City, UT and finally retiring to East Texas, spending time in Nacogdoches, Chandler, then Jasper. She had multiple secretarial jobs through the years, but really enjoyed working as secretary for several elementary schools.

Rita was a people person. She loved time with her family and friends, especially time with her 15 grandchildren and soon to be 13 great grandchildren. She loved flowers, hummingbirds, dancing, and her dogs.  Her most favorite pastime was SHOPPING. She and her girls, and later her friends, could spend entire days buying out the malls. It was always an adventure traveling with her since she had no sense of direction. She always seemed to get us lost or narrowly missing a wreck trying to determine which way to go.

She was always fun to pull jokes on--- we (and especially her grandchildren) could always count on her to be good for a laugh. Being the typical ‘dingy blonde’, it was always easy to trick her. It was always important to her to look her best, dressed to the nines.  It didn’t matter if we were just going to Walmart, she was just a beautiful lady.

Rita is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Sid Siders; children, Angela Boyett and husband Floyd of Jasper, Amy Campbell and husband Wendell of Conroe, Kristy Whipkey and Alan of Lumberton, Jimbo Vinson of Lumberton, Jody Nicole Sharp and husband Terry of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Brooke, Clara, Kailin, Hannah, Nathan, Sarah, Rachel, Lane, Braeden, Mandi, Micah, Tres, Rylee; 13 great grandchildren; silblings, Annie Louise Faircloth and husband Eddie of Zavalla, Tim Williams and wife Nancy of Beaumont; and many other family members and friends.

She is Preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Peyton and Kaiden.
