Rebecca Joyce Welch

Rebecca Joyce Welch, 70, of Chireno passed away January 7, 2024.

Born in Dayton, Texas to Joe and Francis Lukasheay, she lived in Woodville for a short time.  She retired from Kroger after 20 + years and then graduated from Lee College in Baytown as a Registered Nurse having made the Dean’s List.  Rebecca loved her cows, gardening, cake decorating and cooking which was her favorite hobby.  She especially enjoyed canning the many vegetables and fruits from her garden. She was a women’s minister who volunteered at the Healing Center in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Lukasheay and Joyce Hough Lukasheay and her husband of 30 years, Michael Welch.

She is survived by her loving children, Sheri Conner, Robert “Joey” Holt, Amber Welch Fitzgerald and Michael Welch, Jr.; two brothers, Bobby Lukasheay and Billy Lukasheay; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A graveside service will be held Friday, January 12, 2024, at 2 pm at the Morgan Cemetery in Cleveland, Texas.  Visitation will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 3 pm until 5 pm at the Riley Funeral Home.
