Raye Gene Hecker was called home to Heaven on April 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Raye was born with a heart for service, a trait that defined his entire life. He married the love of his life, Marlene “Miciah” Hecker, on July 6, 1973, beginning a lifelong partnership grounded in faith, commitment, and devotion.
In 1972, Raye answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army as a Field Artillery Crewman with the 82nd Airborne Division. In 1975, he transitioned to the Military Police, continuing his dedication to protecting others. He was honorably discharged in 1979, completing his military service with pride.
That same year, Raye began a distinguished 20-year career with the Anchorage Police Department. He served in multiple roles, including patrol officer, K9 officer, and ultimately as a Fraud Detective, where his integrity and sharp instincts made a lasting impact. He retired from APD in 1999.
Following his law enforcement career, Raye pursued seminary studies, reflecting his deep and abiding faith. He later continued his service as a Special Investigator with the Office of Personnel Management, conducting security clearance investigations. He served in this role until his retirement in 2016.
Across more than four decades, Raye faithfully served his country and community as both a Veteran and a civil servant. His life was marked by duty, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to doing what was right.
Above all, Raye was a man of strong Christian faith. He loved the Lord and served Him faithfully throughout his life as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher. His faith guided his actions and was evident in the way he led his family and treated others.
Raye is survived by his devoted wife, Marlene “Miciah” Hecker; his children, Christopher (Michelle), Benjermin (Kimberly), Dodie (Andrew), Abygale (Luke), and Connor (Eliva) and 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and a family who will carry forward his legacy of faith, service, and love.
Raye Hecker dedicated over 43 years of his life to serving his country and his fellow citizens. His love for God, his family, and his country was evident in everything he did. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, faith, and quiet leadership that will not be forgotten and will be forever missed by those who loved him .
