Phyllis Jane Grimes

Phyllis Jane Grimes (nee Guidry) passed away peacefully at her home on May 19, 2020 in Woodville, Texas at the age of 79.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Jim Grimes; children, Steven and Ann Grimes of Woodville, TX, Corey Grimes of Springtown, TX, and sister Margie Brown (Steve) of Peoria, IL. Granddaughters, Doey and Husband Zac Nelson of Shepherd, Tx and Sara and husband Kyle Chandler of Corrigan,Tx. Two great granddaughters Baylee and Blythe Nelson of Shepherd, Tx. She is preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Velma Guidry of Sulphur, LA, her son Brian Bean of Woodville, TX and her three brothers Kenny, Phillip and David all of Sulphur, LA

Phyllis was born on May 18th, 1941 in Sulphur, LA. She graduated from Sulphur High School in 1959. She married Jim, the love of her life in 1984. Phyllis spent much or her career in Southwest Louisiana working at First National Bank and Mobil Oil before meeting Jim and traveling much of the country. She very much enjoyed traveling and meeting new people and making new friends.

Phyllis had many passions in life and enjoyed rodeo in high school was an accomplished seamstress. One of her particular favorites was doll making and she would often give dolls as gifts to family and friends. Phyllis loved cooking and entertaining. Her home was always open to anyone and she loved ensuring that everyone was well fed.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2020, at 10 am at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Old Shiloh Cemetery in Woodville. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9 am until 10 am at the funeral home.  Fred Sherrod will officiate the ceremony.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Phyllis’ life.
