Peggy Tatum Brent blessed the world with her presence on August 30th, 1952. She was born to Barney and Allie Tatum of Big Spring, Tx. Peggy passed away peacefully, meeting the embrace of our Lord on February 20, 2023, in Houston, Tx at the age of 70. She devoted her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, family members, and friends. She wore many titles, daughter, sister, aunt, wife, Ma, and Mimi. Peggy acted as the ultimate caregiver, advisor, peacemaker, and glue to her family. To know her, was to love her. Perhaps Peggy's most significant accomplishment in life was her ability to love and love fiercely. She loved effortlessly and without obligation. Nothing meant more to her than those she loved.
She never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand or ear, intently listening, encouraging, and providing guidance for hours on end. She never ended a conversation without a reminder of her love.
Peggy's smile and laughter were infectious, she was easily tickled, and laughing to the point of tears was a common occurrence. Her laughter was the best medicine of all. So, as we learn to navigate life without Peggy, let us honor her by laughing until we cry, and by knowing we can never talk or listen too long. Last, but certainly not least, may we honor her by loving fiercely, freely, and without measure.
Peggy is survived her husband of 50 years, Claude Brent; adoring children, Brandon Brent, Michael Brent and his wife Lynn, and Jessica Franco; grandchildren, Lauren Smith and husband Thomas, Laci Brent, Shaina Brent, Shane Fortner, Jase Fortner, Olivia Arambula, Briana Cantu, Rebecca Mendez, and Barnabe Mendez; great-grandchildren, Laurie Smith, Thomas Smith Jr., Michael Smith, Joshua Smith, and Brooks Brent; sisters, Mildred Redmon and husband Glen, Suzanne Wilkins and husband Kenneth; brothers, Clyde Tatum, JD Tatum, and Don Tatum; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Allie Tatum; brothers, BW "Dub" Tatum, Jim Tatum, John Tatum and Douglas Tatum; sister, Alma Lou Pierce; Nephew, Summer Shaw; and a Niece Cynthia Shaw.
A Memorial Service will be held March 5th 1:00pm at Smith Ranch-25440 Beckendorff Rd. Katy, TX 77493. Please join family and friends as we honor and celebrate the life of Peggy Tatum Brent. The event will be held outdoors. Please feel free to dress comfortably.
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27
