Paul “Bunyan” Jefferson Brown, 64, of Rockland passed away December 17, 2021.
Born March 29, 1957 in Woodville, Texas to the late Bent T. and Jesse Brown, he was a lifelong resident of Tyler County. He worked in the logging industry as a log cutter who could lay a difficult tree over and never harm anything around it. Bunyan as he was known by family and friends enjoyed raising game birds, coon hunting, gardening and trot lining in the Neches River.
Bunyan is survived by his wife, Gay Nell Gehrels-Brown; sons, Jesse Paul Brown and wife, Dana of Huntington and Paul J. Brown, Jr. and wife, Courtney of Lufkin; daughters, Maddie Brown of Little Rock, Ark., Meagan Brown of Wells and Amber Butterworth of Indiana; brothers, Royce Brown and wife Lela of Colmesneil, Steve Brown of Milam, Marla Brown of Gist and Michael Brown of Rockland; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, December 19, 2021, at 3 pm at the Sand Hill Cemetery in Colmesneil.
