Ottis Gilbert Grissom

Ottis Gilbert Grissom of Gatesville, TX passed away peacefully on Feb 28th, 2024.

       Ottis was born on April 3rd, 1944 to Otis Grissom and Annie (Odom) Grissom in Spurger, TX. Ottis was one of 9 kids, having 6 brothers and 2 sisters. To Ottis family came before anything, he enjoyed time with his wife, who he loved for over 60 years, following his grandkids in their many school activities and watching his great grandkids play in the front yard. Ottis worked in a plywood mill for 47 years, retiring to enjoy more family time. 

      He is survived by his wife Celye (Ruggles) Grissom, his two daughters Melinda Amspacher, husband Vernon, Melissa Shelburne, husband Jim Shelburne, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and brother Melvin Grissom. 

       He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 5 brothers, his son John T. Grissom and great grandson Bentley Reece Kee.

        Graveside service will be held Sunday, March 3, 2024, at 2 pm at Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger, TX.
