Norma Jean “Jean” Smart Jeffcoat, 88, of Warren, entered into rest on March 6, 2026. Born on January 13, 1938, in Hardin County, Jean lived a life marked by faith, grace, and a gentle strength that touched everyone who knew her.
Jean found joy in simple, meaningful moments—reading, studying her Bible, and playing bingo. She cherished hearing stories about her grandchildren and great‑grandchildren and loved seeing them grow, even from afar. Her family remained the center of her heart throughout her life.
A devoted member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jean lived her faith with sincerity and humility. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, and friend whose kindness and warmth will be deeply missed.
Jean is preceded in death by her father, Trawn Harvey Smart; her mother, Lou Baker Smart; her brother, James H. Smart; her husband, Jack C. Jeffcoat; and her daughter, Phyllis Jeffcoat.
She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Starr of San Antonio; her son, Gary Jeffcoat of Kountze; her son, Michael Jeffcoat of Groveton; and her daughter, Becky Viator and husband Keith of Montgomery. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Edward Starr and wife April, Ashley Craft, Alisha Steltz and wife Rita, Ryan Jeffcoat and wife Chloe, Brylea Jeffcoat, Tiffany Christopher and husband Jarod, Josh Viator, and L.V. Viator. Jean was blessed with eight great‑grandchildren, each dearly loved.
Jean’s legacy of love, faith, and quiet strength will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to share in her life.
