Nelda Pace Pool

Nelda Jean Pool (née Pace), 82, of Livingston, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025.

Nelda was born on September 2, 1943, in Livingston, Texas, to James Veal Pace and Maurice Pace (née Hubert). She grew up in Port Arthur, Texas, where she attended Thomas Jefferson High School and proudly marched as a member of the Red Hussar Drum & Bugle Corps. She was also an active member of the Proctor Street Church of Christ, where she met the love of her life, Robert “Bobby” Pool. They married on September 26, 1964, and shared nearly 61 devoted years together.

Nelda and Bobby were blessed with two children, Pamela Kaye Pool, born in Baton Rouge in 1968, and Thomas William Pool, born in Beaumont in 1974. Family was always at the heart of Nelda’s life, and she poured her love and energy into raising her children and, later, cherishing her role as “MoMo Nelda” to Addison Taylor Pool and Ashlyn Faith Pool.

For many years, Nelda and Bobby made their home near Sour Lake, Texas, until Hurricane Harvey forced them to relocate in 2017. They then moved to her family’s homestead near Woodville, Texas, where Nelda lived the remainder of her life surrounded by the comfort of her roots.

Nelda will be remembered as a gentle and joyful soul whose faith, kindness, and laughter left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She delighted in time spent with family, found joy in the simple blessings of life, and cherished her many years with Bobby.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Maurice Pace. She is survived by her brother, James Martin Pace; her husband, Robert Guy Pool; her daughter, Pamela Kaye Pool; her son, Thomas William Pool, and his wife, Kris Siegert Pool; and her beloved granddaughters, Addison Taylor Pool and Ashlyn Faith Pool.

A celebration of Nelda’s life will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11 am at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at the Hubert Cemetery in Polk County.  Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 am until 11 am at the funeral home.
