Millard Scott Obituary

Millard made his home in Woodville, TX, where he lived on his ranch with his wife, Barbara. He was the Eldest son of Merlin Alston Scott (deceased) and Ellen Chattriste Tibbetts Scott (deceased). He was preceded in death by his son Jonathan “Brian” Scott, his brothers: Ellison, Archie, Elroy, James, his step-mother Ethel Scott, and a chosen daughter Linda Gray (Husband Bill). Millard joined the U.S. Navy at the Age of 17 where he served aboard the USS Rio Grande. After his service in the U.S. Navy he continued his chosen career path into the Merchant Marines where he worked until he acquired the licensure of Master Mariner allowing him to captain even the largest of sea-going vessels. He achieved this by the age of 27 when he became the youngest Captain in the history of the Texaco Fleet at the age of 28. He continued to sail for the Texaco Fleet until he transitioned and became a pilot on the Panama Canal for 9 years.  In spring of 1972, he fulfilled a life-long dream and started Scott Angus Ranch.  In 1973, he joined the Sabine Pilots where he worked as a pilot on the Sabine-Neches waterways until he retired in May 2004, at the age of 70. Millard was also a proud member of the Woodville Lions Club, served on the soil conservation board, and a member of the Port Arthur Masonic Lodge #1264 for over 60 years.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 67 years Barbara Ann Broussard Scott. His sister Ava Scott Vincent Hill. His sons, Kevin Lawrence Scott (wife Marry) and Colin Shannon Scott. His daughters, Jo Ellen Lee (Husband Robert) and Erin Kathryn Ball (husband Mike).His grandsons: Benjamin Albin Scott (Fiancée  Ashley), Christopher John Scott (wife Jenna), Ian Alston Scott, Colin Shannon Scott II , James Mowlam III, and Robert Mowlam (Wife Stephanie). His granddaughters: Becky Guidry (husband Kurt), Brandi McCormick (husband Jason), L’Erin Adair (husband Shane), Breanne Bruton (husband Daniel), Christian Jones (husband Matt) Emily Rose Scott, Adeline Mitchell, and Olivia Johnson (husband Justin). Great grandsons: Thomas Adair, Nathan Scott, Cory Scott, Abraham Espina, Nicolas Lewis, Owen Kuykendall, Wyatt Scott,  James Scott, Oliver Bruton, Brantley Bruton, and Derrick Bruton. Great Granddaughters: AnnAlys Ball, Mallory Jones, Kimberlyn  Warner, Kaitlyn Castillo (husband Aaron), Bethany Phillips, Sember Adair, Grace Adair, Alliston Blair, Eveyln Kuykendall, Millie Johnson, and Bentlee Richard. Great Great Grands: Annabelle, Deliliah, Kolby, Gabriel, and Nathalia Rose . Nieces: Angelia Tavener, Stacy Fitzgerald, and Shanna Pandohie. Nephews: Jason Kibodeaux, Craig Musgrove, Elroy Scott Jr., Sean Scott, Chad Scott, Heath Scott, and Jeffery Damien Arenas. Sister in-laws: Beryl Joan Kibodeaux and Helen Sue Sherbaf. Chosen children and grandchildren, Robin Thacker (husband Wesley), Kathryn Frost, Christine Wagers, Sophie, Damian Henson, Jeremy Gray, Aiden Gray, Alicia Gray Hargraves, Nick, and Joe.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 12 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at the Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Colmesneil, Texas.  Visitation will be held Friday, February 17, 2023, from 3 pm until 6 pm at the funeral home.
