Michael Wayne Flanagin, of Huntsville, Texas, died May 21, 2024, at Mid-Coast Medical Center in Trinity, Texas, after a brief illness. Michael served Walker County for many years as a locksmith, educational consultant for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, grocery store manager for Circle K, Income Tax Accountant and many other ventures.
Michael was a loving husband to Rhonda G. Flanagin for 37 years, and a loving father to his five children. It was no secret he loved his grandchildren. When they were around, he had a special twinkle in his blue eyes. He shared his love of hunting, fishing, cooking, but most of all, how to love unconditionally to his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, father Gerald Wayne Flanagin and wife Billie Jean Flanagin, his mother, Imogene Thomas, and grandchildren, Joshua Wayne Flanagin, Bethany Gregory, and Iris Claire Walling; brother-in-law David Taylor, and sister-in-law Linda Flanagin.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Rhonda, daughters Tammy (Bruce) Gregory of Milam, TX, Amanda (Jason) Stephens of Friendswood, TX; sons Robert (Lorena) Flanagin of Huntsville, TX, Aaron (Shelly) McDonald of Lake Charles, LA, and Andrew (Cristabel) McDonald of New Braunfels, TX. His siblings Janice (Royce) Lewis of Burleson, TX, Thomas Flanagin of Brady, TX and Clifton (Martha) Stockbridge of Paint Rock, TX, brothers-in-law, Randy (Sandra) Bush of Danbury and Gary Stumpf of Silsbee; mother-in-law, Nova Dee Stumpf of Silsbee along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Those considered family also include Olen and Michelle Cosper of Belton, TX and Tracy and Kerri Kincaid of Livingston, TX.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 25th at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred, TX, and family will gather afterward from 12-2 pm at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church also in Fred, TX.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael’s honor to Rita B. Huff Animal Shelter in Huntsville, TX.
