Merilyn Dizon Bognot Redman, 72, passed away December 2, 2021.
Merilyn Dizon Bognot Redman was born on November 7, 1946, to parents Juanito Torres Bognot and Asteria Dizon in Bacolor, Pampanga, in the Philippines. She was the oldest of her siblings Jocelyn B. Granada, Evelyn B. Cruz, and Rey Bognot.
Merilyn graduated school from the Pampanga School of Arts and Trade in 1960. She later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education in 1973. She met Malcolm D. Redman, Jr., and they were married on April 17, 1971. Merilyn was saved and gave her life to Christ accepting His free and precious gift of eternal life in April 1974 at Bellaire Baptist Church, Texas.
She stood by her husband Malcolm working in the ministry. She continued blessing others through her involvement in multiple ministries within the church including adult and children’s Sunday school, and choir. Merilyn was a very patriotic American with a clear love of her Filipino culture. She loved her kids and grandkids. Affectionately known as Lola to her grandsons, she was always concerned for their well-being and went above and beyond to care for them. She would drop everything to meet their needs. Her devotion to them had created such a loving bond.
Merilyn is survived by her loving husband, Malcolm D. Redman, Jr.; daughter Martha Asteria Mathieson, son- in-law Ross Craig Mathieson, Sr., her grandchildren Kenneth Robert, Ross Craig, Jr., and Dakota Orion Mathieson, and her son Malcolm D Redman III.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 10 am at the Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger, Texas.
