Melvin Frank Young, 89, of Woodville, passed away on September 24, 2024.
Born March 2, 1935, in Marionville, Missouri, to Melvin and Violet Young, he lived in Houston before moving to Woodville many years ago. He retired as an assistant manager from Randalls Supermarket in Houston. A member of the Woodville Methodist Church, he was a loving Christian who enjoyed helping members install ramps at their homes and other things that needed to be done. Melvin loved his grandchildren and enjoyed the laughter that they brought into his life. He often told people that the happiest years of his life were when he met and married Margaret, the love of his life.
Melvin was preceded in death by his father, Melvin F. Young; mother, Violet Ruth Houston Young; son, Darryl Young; brother, Tommy Young; sister, Patsy Lockhart; and stepchildren, Brenda Brown, Billy Jennings, and Buddy Jennings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Margaret Young; son Melvin Young and wife Jacquelin; brother Billy Young and wife Juanita; stepchild Bradley Woodrow Jennings; grandchildren David Young and partner, Kendle, Nathan Young and wife, Lauren and their children, Luke and Evelyn, Kristen Hunt, Jessica Hunt, Tanner Brown, Logan Brown, Haley Jennings, Kayla Aynn Jennings, and Austin Jennings; numerous great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 2 pm at the Woodville Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 1 pm until the time of the service.
