It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melba LaVerne Hoffman, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who left this world on February 1, 2025. Born on July 6, 1922, to Edward and Hermina Miertschin, Melba was the cherished only child of her devoted parents.
On October 29, 1939, Melba married the love of her life, Raymond Levi Hoffman, in Orange, Texas. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. Melba was a devoted wife and mother, who found joy in raising her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond, and her two precious children, Beverly Ann Hoffman and Raymond Edward Hoffman.
Melba is survived by her loving daughter-in-law, Kathy Hoffman; her grandson, Chet Hoffman; her granddaughters, Jolee Griffin and her husband Kirk Griffin; and granddaughter-in-law, Amanda Hannegan. She was a proud great-grandmother to Emma Griffin, Koen Griffin, Brendon Hoffman, Mattie Hoffman, and Hudson Hoffman, who brought her immense joy and pride.
A long-time resident of Colmesneil, Texas, Melba was a devoted Lutheran whose faith was the cornerstone of her life. She dedicated countless hours to her church community, where she was known for her unwavering commitment to service and her generous spirit. Melba found joy in participating in church activities. Her faith guided her through life's challenges and inspired those around her to embrace love, kindness, and compassion.
Melba had a passion for reading, and she cherished her time spent at the lake, where she found peace and happiness.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to April Adaway and her dedicated staff for the compassionate care they provided to Melba during her final years. Your kindness and support meant the world to her and her family.
Melba LaVerne Hoffman leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we celebrate her life, we remember her warmth, her laughter, and the countless memories that will forever remain in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chet Hoffman, Hudson Hoffman, Kirk Griffin, Koen Griffin, Mark Miller, and Kurt Lough.
