Malachi Ethan Coke “Yoda”, 16, of Warren passed away Friday, September 8, 2023. He was born on June 14, 2007 in Beaumont, Texas to Anna Marie Coke. Malachi had many names he went by. Son, brother, bubba, bro, Chi (Ky), and to the family he was “Yoda!” He loved his family and he loved Jesus! As soon as he was able to walk, he hit the ground running and never looked back!
Yoda never met a stranger and he was instantly loved by all those he came into contact with. As so many have said, “he was an amazing young man that could brighten a room with his smile and charisma…always positive (even when his heart was breaking), always smiling, and always a kind soul.” He was homeschooled until the 9th grade and then began attending Warren High School. He had a passion for all sports and started playing as soon as he was old enough. T-ball, soccer, basketball, football, and baseball. He was prankster, and each of us had our own stories. He would steal your phone only to leave pictures of his crime for you to find. Yoda passed that trait on to his baby sister Vayda, who was his partner in crime.
He loved to go fishing, even though he very seldom caught anything, and if he did… it wasn’t worth keeping. The only thing in his fish tales that grew was his collection of fishing poles. Out of all the stories to be told about him and the legacy he leaves behind, most importantly Malachi loved Jesus, he loved his family, and he loved life. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
He is preceded in death by his MawMaw and PawPaw, Mary Kehtel and Kenneth Kehtel Sr.
Malachi Is survived by his mother, Anna Marie Coke; brother, Brayden Daniel Stewart; sister, Vayda Jade Coke; grandmother, Anita L. Eaton; uncles, Josh Michael Coke, Jeremiah Lee Coke, Kenneth Kehtel Jr.; cousins, Conner Noel Coke, Julian John Eli Coke; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Bethel Baptist Church in Warren with a private burial to follow. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11AM.
