Louis Powell Obituary

Louis D. Powell, 73, of Woodville passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on May 1, 2021.

Born January 7, 1948 in Port Arthur, Texas to John and Mary Powell, he lived in Dam-B for many years.  Louis was the owned and operated L&T Machine Shop in Dam-B for over 30 years while raising his children as a single father.  He not only worked hard to support his family but showed not only his children but also his grandchildren that dedication, hard work and love made a home.  He was a cutup and loved picking and joking with the ones he loved especially his grandchildren.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Powell; son, Louis D. Powell, Jr.; sisters, Carmen Winters and Eva Hatcher; brothers, John Powell, Jr. and Stanley Powell.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Powell; his loving children, Tabitha Messer and husband, John of Woodville and Louis Powell, III and wife, Amy of Woodville; grandchildren, Christopher Messer, Cordelia Messer, Emily Messer and Angela McGee; sisters, Madeline Rogers of Vidor, Tina Landry of Groves and Christine Martin of Beaumont; brothers, William Powell of Woodville, Mark Powell of Kirbyville, Paul Powell of Lakewood and John Craven of Baton, Rouge, LA and a host of other family members and friends.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 6, 2021, at 10 am at the Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2021, from 5 pm until 8 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel. 

The family would like to thank Harbor Hospice of Jasper for their kind and loving care that they gave during this difficult time.
