Linnie Evelyn Hanks, 88, of Woodville, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020, at her home surrounded by her immediate family.
Evelyn was a life-long resident of Woodville, Texas. She was a devoted wife, a loving momma, and a grandkid-spoiling “Maw Maw”. Evelyn was a member of Dogwood Hills Baptist Church where she served in the kitchen on all occasions. She was a woman who loved God and Bluebell ice cream. She was well known around the community for her cooking and she loved to garden and fish.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 60 years John Edd Hanks, by her daughter Jeannie Hanks Martindale, by her grandson Wayne Martindale, by her brother Woody Woodrome, and by her parents Dave and Daisy Woodrome.
She is survived by her son Mark and wife Dianne Hanks of Woodville; grandsons Brett and wife Darrbie Hanks of San Leon, and Brock and wife Sandi Hanks of Woodville; grandkids Jayden, Bailey, Brace and another one on the way; step-son Kenneth Hanks of Hilister and step-granddaughter Denise; brothers Preston Woodrome of Tarkington and David (CD) Woodrome of Ivanhoe, sister Lela and husband Jerry Esmond of Texas City, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed toward Tyler County Nutrition Center for Aging, 201 Willow, Woodville, Texas 75979. Evelyn and John Edd enjoyed spending time here playing dominos in years past.
The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Affinity Hospice of Jasper, Texas for their loving care, her Dogwood Hills Baptist Church family and special family and friends for checking on her each day.
A graveside service will be held Monday, May 4, 2020, at 3 pm at the Ebenezer Cemetery in Colmesneil, Texas. The registered book may be signed at Riley Funeral Home Monday, May 4, 2020, from 9 am until 12 noon. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark, Dianne, Brett, Darrbie, Brock, Sandi, Jayden, Bailey and Brace Hanks.
