Mom was born in Nashville, Arkansas. One day her brothers brought home a tall, lanky, man and she decided that day he would be hers. It wasn’t long before Linda Faye and John ran off and she became Mrs. John Spanhanks. They were married for 63 years.
Mom did many things. She sold Avon, World Book Encyclopedias, and Tupperware. She retired from Brookshire Brothers after almost 30 years. Two of the things that brought mom great joy was her love of plants and quilting. Being able to give her children and grandchildren a quilt that they would cherish and remember her by was something that gave her great joy. .
Mother was a preacher’s wife for over 50 years. She was dedicated to helping dad with the ministries of the church. She loved each of her children and raised us with the knowledge that with God all things were possible. We will miss you mom, but we know where you are and will see you in time. Tell Dad we love him.
Funeral services will be held at Riley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, July 18th at 2:00pm. Services will follow at 3:00pm.. Graveside will be at Fred Community Cemetery, Fred Texas.
A special thanks to Silsbee Oaks Nursing Facility for their wonderful care of mother for the past few years.
