Larry Eugene Odom, 79, of Spurger passed away surrounded by family on December 22, 2023.
Born in Beaumont, Texas to Lazarus and Mittie Odom, he grew up in Hull and Daisetta, Texas before moving to Spurger where he graduated from Spurger High School in 1962. Larry worked in the aluminum extrusion industry, for several decades, with Keller Industries and Alcoa before retiring from Texas Correctional Industries after several years of employment. He loved his family, friends and working but God was first in his life.
Larry was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing and gardening, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He could always be found in his shop, engaged in some task outside, picking up pecans or working in the garden where he said he felt closest to God.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lazarus A. Odom; mother, Mittie Marie Gibson Odom and sisters, Patricia Eloise Odom McCreight and Ida Louise Odom Caswell.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Cecelia Odom; son, Brian Chadwick Odom and wife, Kim of Spurger; daughters, Kristie Lynn O dom Marcum and husband, Brent of Spurger and Kimberly Kay Odom of Silsbee; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Noelle Willis-Odom of Lumberton, Kamryn Elizabeth Odom of Spurger, Randall Baker Marcum, Sidney Lynn Marcum and Reece Anthony Marcum all of Spurger; brother, James Henry Odom and wife, Linda of Fairview, Tx; sister, Janice Marie Odom Thomas of Rayburn, Tx; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 2 pm at the Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger, Texas. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2023, from 5 pm until 8 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel.
