Katherine Jeannette Collier pate, 90, of Warren passed away Friday, December 24, 2021, at her home in Warren. She was born November 9, 1931 in Hicksbaugh, Texas to the late A. Y. and Minnie Bozeman Collier.
Jeannette graduated from Hotel Dieu Nursing School in Beaumont, Texas in 1950 and earned her license as a Registered Nurse. She had several nursing jobs in her lifetime including Tyler County Hospital, Warren ISD school nurse and Holiday Pines Nursing Home. Jeannette received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Lamar University in 1972 but continued her nursing career until 1980 when she began teaching 7th and 8th grade science at Warren ISD.
She married William “Billy” Pate November 1, 1952 who preceded her in death in 2019.
Jeannette enjoyed going for walks in the piney woods, reading and traveling. She especially loved traveling with her grandchildren, taking them on what her family called Granny Adventures. She loved being around young children often hosting grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends for weeks at a time during the summers.
Jeannette is survived by her son, John Pate and wife, Johanna of Somerville; daughter, Jaye Pate Meurer and husband, Thomas of West; grandsons, Jeremiah Pate and wife, Marianne of Warren, Joshua Pate of College Station, Dylan Meurer of West, Garrett Meurer of West, Colton Meurer of West; great grandchildren, Rosemary, William and Henry Pate, Meadow and Brooklyn Pate; brother, Clifton Collier and numerous other family members and friends.
Jeannette is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Richard Pate; her sisters, Sue Collier and Fredda “Pat” Swanson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremiah Pate, Dylan Meurer, Garrett Meurer, Colton Meurer, Walter Bozeman and Rob Swanson. Honorary pallbearer will be Joshua Pate.
Visitation will be at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, December 29, 2021, from 5-7 pm. A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 2 pm at the United Methodist Church in Warren. Burial will follow at Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Methodist Children’ Home in Waco, Texas.
