John Albert Settlocker, 36, of Colmesneil passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
Born in Houston and raised in Colmesneil, John was a hardworking man who not only supported his family but loved them unconditionally. He loved the outdoors whether it was fishing, hunting or coaching young kids. His easy going nature was evident by the many young people he coached not only by his teaching them the game but also by teaching them how be respectful, caring and to work hard in everything that they set out to accomplish.
John had a heart of gold and a smile as big as Texas. John was a fanatic of the Green Bay Packers. He loved to make everyone laugh and there was never a dull moment when he was around. His personality shown through in all things including fighting fires next to his buddies on the Colmesneil Volunteer Fire Department, laughing with his family and friends or talking with a stranger who later became a friend. John was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend who will be greatly missed but whose legacy will live on in everyone he touched.
John was preceded in death by Albert Roberts, John Settlocker, Grace (Honey) Hudgins and his hunting partner, Duke.
John is survived by his loving wife, Dena Settlocker; children, Evan Stewart, Levie Settlocker and Miles Settlocker; bonus son, Wesley Dobbins; grandson, Maddox Dobbins; parents, John and Renee Settlocker; grandmothers, Regina Roberts and Judy Settlocker; siblings; Brian and Christina Primrose, Stephanie and Curtis Judalet; numerous nieces and nephews and a friends.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at 2 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at the Crooked R Cemetery in Colmesneil, Texas. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12 pm until 2 pm at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steven Hoke, Matt Trahan, Joseph Anthony, Christopher Thedford, Leonard West and Keleb Hughes. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Tony Reynolds, Brett Madden, Isaac Primrose, Scott Eddins, David Jordan, Justin Hilliard and Daniel Fowler.
