Joe Whitworth Obituary

Joe Lynn Whitworth, 75, passed away peacefully with his children by his side at Dogwood Trails Manor Nursing Home on October 24, 2021.

Born August 10, 1946 in Camden, Texas to Gordon and Inez Whitworth, he spent the biggest part of his life in Chester, Texas.  He was a proud graduate of Chester ISD class of 1965.  Soon after graduating, he married the love of his life, Linda Sue Stutts, April 22, 1967.  Joe began working for Champion International from 1969 until 1984 as a contract supervisor.  The love for the forestry industry never left him and he remained working the logging woods until he retired in 2012.

Joe Lynn and Linda Sue loved vacationing with family.  Joe Lynn enjoyed watching and supporting his grandkids in the many activities they participated in.  If you could not find him visiting with family and friends, you could find him hog hunting, fishing or firing up the grill to feed whoever stopped by.

Joe Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Inez Whitworth; his wife, Linda Sue Whitworth and a son, Rodney Whitworth.

He is survived by his son, Jud Whitworth and wife, Wendy of Corrigan; daughter, Wendy Bendy and husband, Bo of Colmesneil; grandchildren, Lacy Brock, Paige Stewart and husband, Sheldon, Blake Whitworth, Keaton Whitworth and wife, Lexi, Cader Powell, Mylee Powell, Levi and Jolee Bendy; great grandchildren, Sydney, Chandler and Bentlynn Brock, Kinsley Powell, Aubrey Stewart and Kane Whitworth; sister, Nancy Moore and husband, Robert of Fred; brother-in-law, Jerry Stutts and wife, Susan of Corrigan; and numerous other family and friends.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 2:30 pm Mt. Hope Cemetery in Chester with Brother Larry Trest officiating.  Visitation will be held Thursday from 12 pm until 2 pm at Riley Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kris Moore, Bobby Moore, Phillip Moore, Dusty Stutts, Tyler Stutts and Travis Barnes.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be J. D. Johnson, Jerry Minter, Brian Barnes and James David Mahaffey.
