Joann Hupe Worthey

Joann Hupe Worthey, 73, of Kountze passed away January 19, 2020.

Born July 20, 1946 to Herman Hupe and Helen Paladino Hupe in Galveston, Texas, he was raised in Bacliff, Texas in the early years of her life and Texas City, Tx during her school years.  In 1968, she married Danny Worthey who she would spend the next 51 years with.  They each brought two children to the marriage and over the next four years had two daughters together.  Momma spent the majority of her life as a homemaker, mother and granny to her six children, twenty-three grandchildren and forty-eight great grandchildren.  She loved with all of her heart.  Nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by family and kids.  She also loved the salt water, fishing and crabbing.  She could spend countless hours doing these things.

Joann was preceded in death by her father, Herman Hupe, mother, Helen Paladino Ooley, step-father, Don Ooley, step-son, Kirk Worthey; grandparents, Winnie Bell and John Paladino and sister, Johnnie Kalbow.

She is survived by her children, Raynell Box Rowinsky of Texas City, Thomas Box and wife, Minnie of Texas City, Gina Worthey and Sherry Able of Santa Fe, Tx, Valarie Chapman and husband, James Lee of Spurger, Shannon Curtice Worthey and Jeremy Curtice of Texas City, Cody Worthey Rowinsky and wife, Michelle of Honey Island;daughter-in-law, Sylvia Worthey of Safford, AZ; grandchildren, Joshua Rowinsky, Brandon Worthey Rowinsky and wife, Paige, Daniel Rowinsky, Tanner Worthey Rowinsky and wife, Elizabeth, Nikki Worthey Rowinsky, Katlyn White, Anthony Box, Cindal Worthey, Devin Worthey, Trask Martin, Tia Martin, Burgandi Worthey Morris and husband, Brazos, Bailan Worthey and wife, Tiffany, Chris Chapman, Jake Chapman and wife, Dianna, Travis Fuente and wife, Kristen, Taylor Fuente Davis and husband, Dereck, Austin Nowlin, Brittany Minks, Kennedy Roden, Jamie Hill, Chance Hill and Jesse Biscamp; fifty great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2020, from 5 pm until 8 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel.
