Jo Carolyn Sturrock

Jo Carolyn Sturrock, 75, of Chester, passed away June 13, 2025.

She was born in Woodville, Texas, to Arthur “Pete” and Iva Barnes.  She married Harold Sturrock and together they made a life in Chester, where they raised their children.  Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren, and she felt it was her responsibility to worry for each one.  Jo made every ballgame, supporting them in every victory and loss.  Her love was for her Lord and Savior, and second for her family.

Jo was preceded in death by her father, Arthur “Pete” Barnes; mother, Iva Hughes Barnes; husband, Harold Sturrock; and twin grandsons, Luke and Jake Wilkins

Her loving family survives her: children, Clint Sturrock and wife, Kim, James Sturrock and wife, Yolanda, Jo Ann Wilkins, Billy Jack Sturrock and wife, Casey; grandchildren, Wade Sturrock and wife, Amber, Dusty Sturrock, Garet Sturrock and wife, Madison, Jason Sturrock and wife, Kristen, Lane Sturrock, Lil Sturrock, Gabe Wilkins, Creed Wilkins, Josey Elliott and husband, Kade and Waylon Sturrock; great grandchildren, Hank Sturrock, Brody Sturrock, Ivalee Sturrock and Wylie Mae Elliott; brother, Art Barnes and wife, Ovieta; sister, Barbara Petri and husband, Floyd and a host of other family members and friends.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 10 am at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Milton Powers officiating.  Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Chester, Texas.  Visitation will be held Monday, June 16, 2025, from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm at the funeral home.

In honor of their Nannie Jo, her grandchildren will serve as her pallbearers.
