Jinnie Evans Obituary

Jinnie Moeses Evans, longtime resident of Woodville, Texas, went peacefully to be with her Lord on April 30, 2022 at the age of 87.

Jinnie was born in Clark, Louisiana to Albert and Ruby Patterson.  She was one of nine children that learned the value of hard work and loving the Lord.  She began her journey with Jesus in this small town and became a faithful servant, prayer warrior and soldier in God’s Army.  She never hesitated to lay hands on anyone, anywhere and pray for them.  You felt that power of prayer when she did. Jinnie was a strong witness for Jesus than impacted her children, grandchildren, great great grandchildren and anyone who met her.  She was a member of Hillister Assembly of God Church.

Jinnie married W. A. Evans in Louisiana on November 5, 1952 and was blessed to love him for 43 years before his passing in 1995.  They had six children and raised five in Deer Park, Texas where they were members of Pasadena Church of God.  Jinnie worked many years as a custodian for Bay Shore Hospital and Deer Park ISD.  After retiring to their land in Ivanhoe, Texas, he started a lawn care business with her son.  She loved to garden and plant beautiful flowers.  She could plant a dead twig and make it grow into something beautiful.  She could fix just about anything and wasn’t afraid to crawl under a car or truck, dig a ditch or cut a tree down or even make something out of nothing.  She passed this value of hard work on to anyone who wanted to learn.

Jinnie is preceded in death by her husband, W. A. Evans; parents, Albert and Ruby Patterson; sons, Timothy Evans, Paul Evans and Jerry Lee Evans; grandson, David White; brothers, Bert Patterson, Levon Patterson; sisters, Florence Patterson and Mary Murray.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Evans of Woodville, Alex Evans and wife, Sam of Woodville; daughter, Sarah White of Woodville; daughters-in-law, Sherry Evans of Pasadena and Kati Evans of Woodville; grandchildren, Phillip Evans, Allison Rojas (Eric), Dewayne White, Amanda White, Breann Evans (Casey Hall), Niki Elkins (Mathew), Brandon Evans, Cody Evans (Helena) and Kobi Evans (Courtney); thirteen great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 11 am at the Riley Funeral Home with Brother Rusty West officiating.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from 10 am until the time of the service.  A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 11 am at Grand View Memorial Park in Pasadena, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Evans, Kobi Evans, Mathew Elkins, Dewayne White, Mac Pena and Hayden Pena.
