Jim “Uncle Hank” Jenkins, 73, of Town Bluff passed away September 10, 2023.
Born January 1, 1950 in Fred, Texas to Maudie Peterson Jenkins and Roe Jenkins, he lived in Town Bluff most of his life. After being honorable discharged from the U.S. Army after serving in Vietnam, he married the love of his life, Eloise Wheeler Jenkins.
Jim worked in the logging industry most of his life and was known as one of the best skidder/shear driver around. He loved sitting on his front porch feeding his squirrels and birds. During the winters, he loved to build a “hot” fire in his old wood heater and sit and watch it. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and trips to the casino. Uncle Hank was a little man with a big heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Maudie and Roe Jenkins; sisters, Addie “Tiny” Wilson, Thelma “Tootie” Clowers, Dolly Hollyfield and Ruthie Fregia; brothers, Tharp “Bud” Jenkins, Monroe Jenkins, Pete Jenkins, Hill Jenkins and Bill Jenkins and a grandchild, Cameron Paige Jenkins.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eloise Jenkins; children, John Roe Jenkins and wife, Sheila, Jimmy Wayne Jenkins, Joe Don Jenkins and Bonnie Jenkins and husband, Allen McGallion; half-brother, Steve Harville; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and lots of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 5 pm at the Fred Community Cemetery in Fred, Texas. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 pm until 4 pm at the funeral home.
