It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Jill R. Strait Gilbert, 74, of Hillister, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and faithful Christian, who left us peacefully on November 28, 2024.
Originally from La Marque, Texas, Jill’s life was a reflection of her deep love for her family, her faith, and the simple joys of life. Jill was a woman of unwavering strength and compassion. She poured love into everything she did, from raising her four children - Melissa Gordy, Aaron Gilbert, Rachel Olives, and Shannon Muccitelli - to nurturing her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jill is survived by her brother Mike Strait whom she had a deep affection and admiration. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and the countless lives she touched through her kindness, wisdom, and selfless spirit.
Jill was preceded in death by her loving parents, Helen F. Strait and Chester Strait, who she always spoke of with great affection and gratitude. Those who knew Jill will remember her for her boundless love for the outdoors, especially her passion for gardening and animals. Her farm was her sanctuary, a place where she found peace and joy, and it will forever be where her spirit is felt most strongly. Whether she was tending to her garden or simply enjoying the beauty of the land, Jill found comfort in the rhythm of nature. Her faith in God was the foundation of her life, and she lived it every day with grace and humility.
Jill’s presence in the lives of her family and friends was a reminder of the importance of love, kindness, and faith. Jill leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion that will be carried on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Though she has gone from our sight, her love and the memories she created will continue to guide us.
