Jack Wade Russell, 78, of Chester passed away November 18, 2023.
Jack was born in Lufkin, Texas on July 2, 1945 to Maynard and Mary Russell. He lived in Lufkin most of his life until he met Marilyn and they then lived in Chester and Huntington. They were married 31beautiful years. Jack drove a tanker truck for Georgia Pacific Chemical for 20 years.
He loved to read books and have coffee with his friends at Brookshires in Huntington. He learned how to raise cows which he loved; it all being a new life for him. You could not ask for a better person to be with and learn from. He was a loving husband, dad, grandfather and great grandfather.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard Lacey Russell; mother Mary Vida Gilcrase; sister, Jean Vardeman and brother, Jerry Russell.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Marilyn Russell of Chester/Huntington; son, Billy Jack Russell and wife, Connie of Huntington;, Robert Whitaker of Chester and Don Whitaker of Chester; daughters, Tonya Russell Brown of Huntington, Faye Whitaker of Chester, Darla Homniok and husband, Butch of Chester/Spring; grandchildren, Jarod Russell, Joshua Toney, Kirstie Aitken, Billy Wayne Russell, James Allen Whitaker, Chelsi Homniok, Bryan Homniok, Kimberly “Lucy” Homniok, Paige Richard and James Richard; great grandchildren, Aubrey Russell, Miller Russell, Ava Alvarado, Myla Richard, Paisley Richard, Jaxson White, Camdyn White, Ellie Homniok, Landen Segrest, Conner Segrest, Parker Martin, Kamryn Martin, Oaklynn Clifton, Creek Martin, Lilah Toney and Brandon Toney; and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral service will be held Friday, November 24, 2023 at 3 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Hails Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Chester, Texas. Visitation will be held Friday from 1 pm until 3 pm at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Whitaker, James Wade Richard, Wyatt Martin, James Allen Whitaker, Bradley Davidson and Bryan Homniok.
