Imogene (Seamans) Stevens

Imogene Stevens, a resident of Chester, Texas, passed away on December 12, 2022 at her home.  She was born in Chester on November 28, 1926 to Valma and Nemma Seamans.

She is survived by sons, David and Mark of Chester, four grandchildren:  Sean, Stephanie Plake (Patrick), Chris (Brandi) and Ryan (Lindy) and 3 great grandchildren (Ashley, Zane and Chloe).   She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her son, Jimmy, her brother, Herbert and her parents.

Imogene and Jim married in 1947 and raised three boys in Beaumont.  She was active in many areas of their school life serving in the PTA and was later made a lifetime PTA member.  She also served on various school committees and worked in the school offices when needed.

Imogene was a member of Enon Baptist Church in Chester.  She gave her heart and life to Jesus at the age of 12 and served her home church in various capacities over the years. Jim and Imogene did the most important thing a parent can do for their children --- they shared the gospel with their boys, who, in time, were saved Jim and Imogene’s lives modeled what was in their hearts --- an abiding love for their Savior.

A gathering of friends and family will take place at Riley Funeral Home (913 U.S. Hwy 190 in Woodville, Texas) on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 5PM until 8PM.  Funeral services will take place at Enon Baptist Church on December 16, 2022 at 11AM.  Bro. Larry Trest and Bro. Larry Staggs will officiate.  The church is located at 9418 FM 1745 North in Chester.  Burial will take place immediately after at Seamans Cemetery in Chester.
