Howard (a.k.a. H.D.) Durant Hamilton, 98, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, in Silsbee, Texas.
Howard was born March 4, 1926, in Henderson, Texas, to Christopher and Annie Hamilton. He married the love of his life, Mary (Delaney) Hamilton, on April 22, 1948. They were married for 77 years until Mary’s passing in April of 2024. H.D. served as an elder at the Orange Seventh Day Adventist Church for 28 years. He began serving as an elder at the Warren Seventh Day Adventist Church in 1998 until his passing.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hamilton; daughter, Brenda Nash; great-grandson, Dustin Havard; great-great-granddaughter, Marley Havard; brother, Frank Delaney; sister, Flossie Hamilton; and by many nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his son, Gary Hamilton and wife, Vicky of Woodville; daughters, Rebecca Grant and husband, Dwayne of Buna and Kelli Peter and husband Dale of Ooltewah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Diane, Daniel, Kina, Kevin, Kelly, Clayton, Russell, Anna, Ross, Melinda, Wes, Danny, Jared, Michael, Naomi, Joe and Galen; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 9 am until service time at 10 am at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Dubon. Serving as pallbearers will be Clayton Hamilton, Wesley Dalgleish, Joe Grant, Danny Peter, Michael Hamilton and Kory Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Peter and Dwayne Grant. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. at Salem Cemetery in Rusk.
