Helen Grammer, 100, Woodville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family April 7, 2020.
Born to the late Vander Lee and Lola Fuller Brown, she was a lifelong resident of Tyler County.
Mrs, Grammer is most recognized as the customer-minded owner of the Grammer Grocery Store, a mainstay business of Woodville. At her 100 birthday celebration, the City of Woodville proclaimed “Helen Grammer Day” as a tribute to the “oldest living business owner of Tyler County. Helen loved to contribute to the community in various capacitates especially being an active member of the Dogwood Festival flower committee into her 90’s. Her laughter, smile,sparkling eyes, and her invitation to “Come in…sit down and have a cup of coffee” will always be a treasured memory to everyone who knew her.
Helen Grammer is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Archie Grammer; sons, Larry Grammer and Joe Grammer, ; a grandson, Jimmy Grammer; granddaughter, Cadra Grammer brothers, Leon Brown, Att Brown, Carl Brown and Jesse Brown; sisters; Mae Rainey, Pearl Young, Eva Lindsey, and Ruby Die.
Helen is survived by her loving daughter, Pat Collier and husband, James of Woodville; grandchildren, Jeff Grammer and wife ,Natalie of Spring; Karen Shaw and husband,Will of Woodville, Sharon Jeansonne and husband, Fulton of Woodville, Jenny Page and husband, Bobby of Woodville, Beth Hill and husband, Larry of Groveton and Sheryl Grammer of San Antonio ,as well as “Cookie” her constant companion and best friend,plus an abundance of great grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends.
A Private Service will be held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home in Woodville.
