Genevie Mary Graham Obituary

Genevie Mary Graham, 91, of Colmesneil, gained her angel wings on Sunday, December 26, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. 

Genevie was born to Louis and Lawrence Leger on September 23, 1930 in Beaumont, Texas. She grew up in China, Texas and attended China High School. She married the love of her life, Ade Graham, Jr., on November 15, 1947. She and AD lived in Houston for several years before moving to Colmesneil to raise their family. Genevie was employed by Colmesneil ISD as their first female school bus driver. After that, she went on to work for E&L Lumber Company for many years. She was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where she played the piano and served as the church secretary since 1965. Her passion was spending time with her kids and grandkids, playing the piano, and attending church service every time the church doors were open. She loved deeply, took many in as her own, and saw the good in everyone.

Genevie was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ade Graham, Jr., her son Larry Wayne Graham, her parents Louis and Lawrence Leger, her sister Joyce Guidry, grandson Colt Culbertson, and great-granddaughter Alicyn Mitcham. 

She is survived by her son Donnie and wife Glenda Graham of Colmesneil, daughter Debbie and husband Gene Williams of Lumberton, son Terry and wife Lisa Graham of Lumberton, and sister Shirley Brown of China. Grandchildren Chelene and Raymond Barrett, Timothy and Haylie Hall, L’Chanda and James Courville, Chastyn and Lisa Graham, Justin and Heather Mitcham, Jansen Graham and Micah Crews, Kayla and J’Me Blanchard, Bridgette and Cody Rutherford, Irene Alegre, D’Lea Graham, My’Etta Graham, Brandon and Charity Snider, Leslie White. Great-Grandchildren Chelee and Zach Wilson, Emilee and Chris Couch, Cheyanne Barrett, Reed and Camryn Best, Brooke and JW Mitcham, Seth Snider, Hadlee Gates, Trace, Branson, and Tynlee Blanchard, Kalyn Lowery, Call and Olivia Courville, Aaron, Landon and Hadlie Hall, Levi Hurley, Gannon Jones, Harlynne Reeves, Koleson and Mack Crews, Layne Dorris, Braylee Graham, Hadley Rutherford, Elizzabeth Snider, Ashstyn, Tristyn, CJ, and Austyn Graham, and Jimme Powell, William White and Chloe Duboise. Great Great-Grandchildren Landon Claire and Lincoln Lowery. She had numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. 

Serving as pallbearers will be James Courville, J’Me Blanchard, Reed Best, Timothy Hall, Trace Blanchard, Zach Wilson, Chris Couch, and Layne Dorris. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Chastyn Graham, Camryn Best, Gene Williams, Raymond Barrett, Tiny Mitcham, Branson Blanchard, Kenneth Wayne Graham, Justin Mitcham, Lloyd "Jr" Sandlin and Jimmie Dean Graham. 

Services will be officiated by Brother Jack Lewellen and Brother Milton Powers under the direction of Riley Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021, 5 – 9 pm at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Colmesneil. Funeral service will be held Friday, December 31, 2021, at 11 am at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.  Interment to follow at Davis Cemetery in Colmesneil.
