Farrell was born December 15, 1937 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Garland and Alice Murders. At a young age he moved to the Houston, Texas area where he grew up. In 1993 he moved to Woodville where he lived out the rest of his years. He worked as a carpenter and a machinist before retiring as a correctional officer for the Texas Department of Corrections. Farrell enjoyed hunting, fishing, and anything that involved working with his hands. He participated with Tyler County Emergency Management as a Ham Radio Operator.
Farrell was an active member of Snow River Lodge #385 in Spurger. He received the Golden Trowel award in April 2017 and his 25-year pin in December 2021. He was a Past Master of Snow River, having served that position twice and was very involved in serving his community through his lodge. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran where he served from 1958 – 1962as a Morse Intercept Operator.
Farrell was preceded in death by his parents, Garland Murders and Alice Lucille Coker Murders; a son, Laddie Fox Trainer and a grandson, Jayson Farrell Trainer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia Murders; children, Duane Trainer of Woodville, Pamela Murders-Shugart and husband, Ronald of Pasadena, Kimberly Murders-Johnston and husband, Jared of Woodville and their children, Raven Murders and Jubilee Johnston. He is also survived by brothers, Carl Murders and wife, Becky of Houston, Glen Murders of Angleton and Gerald Murders and wife, Debbie of Normangee; sisters, Betty Barnes, Dora Raup and Shirley Aguilar all of Longview; grandchildren, Jennifer Barajas, Melody Parks, Laddie Trainer II and Michael Trainer, as well as numerous great grandchildren; great, great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 1 pm at the Riley Funeral Home chapel with Masonic Rites and military honors.
