Earl Wayne Fletcher, Sr., 95, of Longview passed away July 3, 2021.
Born April 24, 1926 in Rio Hondo, Texas to Herman and Alice Fletcher, he lived in Kingsville before moving to Village Mills in 1996 and then to Longview in September 2020. After graduating Rio Hondo High School, he graduated Texas A&I University, Kingsville, Texas with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Franklin during World War II. Earl worked at Herst Celenese Corporation as a Chemist until 1970 and then as an agent for State Farm Insurance until 1987. He served as a Deacon for First Baptist Church in Kingsville before he moved to Village Mills where he joined the Wildwood Baptist Church in Village Mills, Texas.
Earl was preceded by his parents, Herman and Alice Fletcher; wife, Ruth Fletcher; siblings, Don Fletcher, Bob Fletcher and Barbara Priesmeyer.
He is survived by his loving children, son, Earl Wayne Fletcher and wife, Dawn, of Round Rock, Texas; daughter, Elaine Watkins and husband, Doug, of Magnolia, Texas; siblings, Melvin Fletcher, Doug Fletcher, David Fletcher, Johnny Fletcher, Karen Ann Eggleston, Nancy Smith and Evalynn Brown; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Earl stated “I am very proud of the way Wayne and Elaine turned out!”
Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 10 am at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gary Osberg officiating. Burial will follow at the Village Mills Cemetery in Village Mills, Texas. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021, from 9 am until the time of the service.
