Dr. Pamela Monk Obituary

Dr. Pamela Ellen Peters Monk, 64, of Warren, passed away November 24, 2021 at home with her loving husband of 33 years by her side.

Pam and Jim loved to travel and together have seen and visited many beautiful places, especially Colorado.  Pam loved her family beyond measure and made sure they all knew it.  She had a generous heart and a most contagious laugh.  Although her family always came first, it was her fur-babies, Lucy and Baxley, who she doted over – her faithful companions until the end.

Pam was born January 7, 1957 to Dudley and Frances Peters in Port Arthur, Texas.  She obtained several degrees from Lamar University, Stephen F. Austin University and Sam Houston State University where she received her doctorate in psychology.  She worked for many years in various roles in her profession, including counselor at both Warren and Woodville ISD’s and as a Professor of Psychology at Lamar University, from where she retired.  Pam absolutely loved helping people-family, friend or stranger.  She played the piano for her church, Hillister Baptist Church, where she attended for many years.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Dudley and Frances Peters and her brother Daniel Peters.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy of Warren; son, Rodney Monk and wife, Leann of Warren; daughter, Tonya Turner and husband, Duane of Colmesneil; sister, Susan Peters Smart and husband, Joe of Chester; grandchildren, Kacie Heckman and husband, Teddy, Allicyn Monk, Mallory Monk, Jessica Fasske and husband, Seth, Cody Turner and wife, Bailey and Blaine Turner; great grandchildren, Carson, Logan and Brayden Fasske, Atley Joy and Emree Kent Heckman and Myla Turner; niece, Kelly Lee; nephews, Cade Fletcher, Jeremi Smart and David Smart and a host of other family members and friends.

A graveside service will be held Monday, November 29, 2021, at 10 am at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Chester with Brother Clark Mahoney officiating.
