Dorri Hatton Obituary

Dorri Jayne Hatton

1954 – 2024

Heaven’s Choir got a new member on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, when Dorri Jayne Hatton joined the alto section.

Dorri was born September 12, 1954, to Grady E. Hatton, Jr. and Dorris Mae Brannon Hatton in Beaumont, Texas.  She graduated from Beaumont High School in 1973 and later attended business college in Houston.

She spent most of her adult life in Sugarland, Texas.  In September 2022, she retired from Kirby, Inc., in Houston and moved to the family farm in Warren, Texas.  She resided with her sister, Patricia, for the remainder of her life.

Dorri was well known for her love and compassion for animals.  She was a caring fur-baby mother to Mac, Buffy, Shine, and P.D. (Precious Dog).

She is survived by her sister, Patricia Hatton; brother, Grady E. Hatton III (Belinda).  Dorri loved being “Aunt Deejee” to nieces, Morgan Hatton, Alyssa Moore (Virginia), Dorinda Lamberson and Dawna Chance; to nephews, Jake Hatton (Rhiannon) and Garret Shrum (Nicole); and to four great nieces and ten great-nephews.  She is also survived by a large extended family and lifelong friend, Pamela Baulch Yates (Cotton).

Dorri was a unique lady who loved music and sang beautifully.  She chose her friends carefully, however, once you were her friend, she remained your loyal friend forever.  She will be greatly missed and remembered always by family and friends who loved her most.

The family is requesting no flowers.  If you would like to plant a tree in memory of Dorri Hatton that would be greatly appreciated.

Donations can be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas: 2050 Spindletop Ave. Beaumont, Texas, 77705; or by email: asttexas.org or to the charity of your choice.
