Dorothy McLane Obituary

Dorothy (Dottie) Skelton McLane, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2021 at Woodville Health and Rehab.

Born December 21, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA., Dottie grew up in the historical neighborhood of Germantown, and was educated in the prestigious Lutheran Academy.  This religious upbringing nurtured her as a devout daughter, wife, mother, and Lutheran.  Dottie's life work was that of a caregiver; she raised four children while caring for an aging grandmother, and later moved in with her mother and step-father to care for them until their deaths.  Not only did Dottie care for her family's physical needs, but she took on the role of “prayer warrior" for her family, church family, and friends.  Dottie's coffee pot was always on, and everyone knew they could depend on Dottie to listen and pray for their burdens, or celebrate with them for God's  answered prayers.  Dottie loved her precious pet pooches, and cherished anything with butterflies - a symbol of God's hope and grace.  She also loved to dance and listen to music.  Even up to her death, Dottie could remember the words to numerous hymns and popular song lyrics of long ago.

Dottie is survived by her children: David Skelton and wife Susan of Woodway, Tx, Debbie and Butch Pachall of Spurger, Tx, and Ruth Cariola of New Port Richey, Fl; grandchildren James Lee Pachall and wife Crystal, Jennifer Pachall-Kirkpatrick and husband Justin, Christy Ledridge and husband Matt, Kimberly Beattie and husband Cesar, Cherry Hatchette and husband Rusty, Dylan Skelton, Matthew Cariola, and Andrew Cariola; 17 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Dottie was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Mae Smith, father James Nickle, step-father Arthur Smith, daughter Susan Skelton, and husbands Robert Skelton and William McLane.

Service will be at 11am, Tuesday, January 26th, at Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger, Texas with Brother Jack Lewellen officiating.
