Dixie Ewings Obituary

Dixie Ruth Ewings, 90, of Woodville, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026. Born on November 17, 1935, in Trinity, Texas, Dixie was the daughter of George D. Thompson Sr. and Rosie Lee (Reid) Thompson. She spent her life devoted to her family and found joy in simple pleasures. Following her 35 year career with the Woodville school system, Dixie enjoyed retirement surrounded by the people and things she loved; such as tending to her flowers, watching her hummingbirds, and baking cookies.

 Dixie is survived by her sister Mary Lee Fomby, son, Kenneth Ewings and wife Shebra Ewings of Silsbee, Texas; daughter Sherry Hogan and husband Michael Hogan of Woodville, Texas; son James Ewings and wife Sherrie Ewings of Woodville, Texas. Grandchildren Kenny E. Ewings Jr., Christina Hogan, Elizabeth Musick, Michael D. Hogan, Sharon Ewings, Jake Ard, Diana McKee, and Lee and Ernest Myers. Numerous great and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to her caregiver, Yolanda, who became a wonderful friend and part of the family.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl T. Ewings; her parents George D. Thompson Sr and Rosie Lee (Reid) Thompson; stepbrothers Charles and Willie Davis; sister Lois Nell Hodge; brother George E. Thompson; grandson Rodney Lee Ewings.
