Dixie Kaye Bowers, 75, of Woodville, passed away May 4, 2025.
Born in Silsbee, Texas, to AD and Helen Sloan, she lived in Woodville most of her life. She raised her kids on her own, teaching them that hard work and persistence pay off. Dixie was a caretaker at heart who never met a stranger and always had a smile on her face. She not only took care of her parents but also worked for years in various positions in the Elliot House in Lufkin, Buckners, CPS, or anywhere she felt she was needed. But her family was by far the ones she loved the most.
Dixie was preceded in death
by her father, AD Sloan; mother, Helen Carraway Sloan; brothers, Dale Sloan and Keith Sloan; and a nephew, Scott Sloan.
She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Jeana Kosina and husband Bert of Corrigan, son Cary Bowers and wife Laura of Livingston, and daughter Penny Hudspeth and husband Jerry of Corrigan; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two nieces, and too many cousins to list, but all who adored her.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 9, 2025, at 11 am at the Campground Cemetery in Woodville. After the service in the fellowship hall, the family will gather to celebrate her life with stories and memories.
